Non-corrosive: probably most valued feature of composites in industrial applications: ability to stand up to severe weather and wide temperature ranges. While steel rusts easily and is often coated with zinc, composites are naturally anti-corrosive.
Exceptional durability: composite materials can operate continously for a very long time in hostile chemical environments created by acidic, alkaline or saline media without damaging the chemical barier layer. The result is less downtime and fewer maintenance requirements.
Light weight: composites are often valued because of their exceptional lightness in comparison with other materials, such as metals. Composite elements such as piping fittings can be carried by two men while same size steel component would require a crane.
High strength: composites can be designed to provide a vast range of mechanical properties including tensile, flexural, impact and compressive strengths. They can be designed to be far stronger than aluminium or steel. Moreover composites can be engineered and designed to be strong in a specific direction.
Part consolidation: a single composite part can replace a number of steel parts. Piping fittings are spoolable which reduces installation costs and assembly time on site.
Nonconductive: composites are nonconductive. They do not respond to an electric field and resist the flow of an electric charge. This makes composite products perfect for semiconductor sector.
Customization – composite products can be customized for instance to be fire-retardant by using non-flammable resins or antiseptic by using fluoropolymer liner when high purity of the liquid is required.
